The 2004 Toyota 4Runner has either A4.0 L V6 or 4.7 L V8 engine that needS5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil in all temperatures. The capacity for the vehicle iS5.5 quarts with a filter for the 4.0 L V6 and 6.6 quarts with a filter for the 4.7 L V8 engine. The drain plug haS30 ft/lbs of torque for the 4.0 L V6 and 29 ft/lbs of torque for the 4.7 L V8 engine. It is important to change the oil every now and then because it will go bad after a certain point and it helps to keep the engine clean. Because it uses synthetic oil it only needs to be changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. The oil filter should be changed at the same time also.
