The 2.4l inline-4 base engine in the 2004 Toyota Highlander needS4 quarts of 5w30 synthetic oil. The 3.3l V6 engine for the 2004 highlander useS5 quarts of the same viscosity. Synthetic oil is by far better for performance. It protects the engine due to lower levels of friction. Switching between synthetic and conventional oils will not cause any damage to an engine. Synthetic blends are a mixture of synthetic and conventional oil. It is recommended to change Your oil every 7,500 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Routine oil and filter changes help remove particles and sludge from the engine. If the oil isn't changed, Your vehicle's engine will start to have a lot of problems.
