The 2005 Honda Accord comes in one of three different engine variants, depending on configuration. You'll either have a 2.4L 4Cylinder or one of two different 3.0L V6 engines. The 4Cylinder requireS4.2 quarts without a filter, or 4.4 quarts with a filter, of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic motor oil. Both V6 variants each use 4.2 quarts without a filter, or 4.5 quarts with a filter, of the same. In either situation, it's possible to substitute SAE 5W-30 over the short term, but this is not recommended if You can avoid it. Using an oil with a thicker viscosity introduces friction to the engine, which can lead to premature wear and tear and early engine failure. Even if it costs a bit more per change, You'll always want to use the manufacturer's recommended oil with the lowest viscosity.

The 2005 Honda Accord's two versions of the 2.4L inline-4 engine (engine codes K24A1 K24A4 and K24A4 1) both take 4.4 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil while the two versions of the 3.0L V6 (engine codes J30A4 5 and JNA1 6) for the 2005 Accord require 4.5 quarts of 5W20 synthetic.
