The standard 3.5-liter V6 engine in the 2006 Acura MDX takeS4.2 liters (4.5 quarts) of either 5W-20 or 0W-20 engine oil. Both of these options are synthetic and designed to last longer than non-synthetic varieties, so You shouldn't need oil changes as frequently. Mazda recommends replacing this fluid in the MDX every 5,000 miles, but if You drive daily in slow rush hour traffic or live in a dusty area, You might need to have it done more often. Your MDX is equipped with an oil life light that will let You know when it's time to make a service appointment. However, it's a good idea to get in the habit of checking the fluid routinely to make sure it's still in good shape. Oil is essential to the life of Your engine. The average cost to change the oil in the 2006 MDX is $120 to $140, including labor.
