The 2006 Hyundai Elantra has a 2.0 L 4Cylinder engine that needS5W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil. The capacity for the car iS4.2 quarts with a filter. Oil is needed to keep the engine clean and lasting longer. It tends to go bad after a while so needs changed every once in a while, in the Elantra it should be changed every 5,000 miles including the filter. The cost of oil is around $5 to $10 per quart or around $21 to $42 to fill up the full 4.2 quarts. To do a change it only takes about 5 to 15 minutes. The tools needed are 15mm wrench, 15mm socket, filter wrench, ratchet, cloth rags, drain pain, floor jack, jack stands and a funnel.

The 2.0L inline-4 engine that comes standard in the 2006 Hyundai Elantra uses 4.2 quarts of 5W20 or 5W30. The 5W20 is recommended by Hyundai, but they have approved the use of 5W30 as an alternative. Either way, the oil should be synthetic.
