The 2007 Hyundai Sonata requires either 5w-20 synthetic motor oil, or 5w-30 synthetic oil, with the latter being the preferred choice. The capacity varies depending on the engine size. The 2.4L engine uses up to 4.2 quarts, while the 3.3L engine requires about 5.5 quarts. When performing a motor oil change, anywhere between 5 to 5.5 quarts of motor oil should be used in the 3.3 L. The smaller 2.4 L inline-4 engine has a maximum capacity of 4.2 quarts, with 4 quarts of motor oil being the sweet spot. Motorcraft 5w-20 semi synthetic and M1 5w-20 synthetic oil are examples of motor oils that work well with the Sonata.

The two engines for the 2007 Hyundai Sonata except 5W20 (preferred) or 5W30 (acceptable) synthetic oil. The 2.4L inline-4 engine has a capacity of 4.2 quarts and the 3.3L V6 engine needs 5.5 quarts.

Been driving the 3.3L for about 4 years. Manufacturer reccomends 5W-20 for the 3.3L. Not sure about the 4 cylinder. 5-5.5 quarts seems about right for volume
