The 2007 Toyota Highlander useS4 quarts of SE 5W-20 oil in the 4Cylinder engine and 5 quarts of SAE 5W-30 oil for the 6 cylinder engine. Toyota recommends that You use fully synthetic oil when You do need to change it. Oil comes in two major varieties, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is an improvement over conventional and can provide better wear protection for Your engine, as well as last longer. On average You will need to change Your oil every 7,500 miles with synthetic and 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. Check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is full and free of debris.

The base 2.4L inline-4 in the 2007 Toyota Highlander needs 4 quarts of 0W20 or 5W20 oil. Both versions of the 3.3L V6 engine codes 3MZ-FE F and 3MZ-FE G take 5 quarts worth of 5W30. Synthetic based oil is the preferred formula of oil.
