The 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 is specified by the factory specs to use a Full synthetic oil SAE 5w-30 for all weather temperatures. The truck is equipped with a 3.7L v6 engine that has an oil capacity listed at 5 quarts or A4.7L v8 flex that useS6 quarts and A5.7L v8 that will require 7 quarts as stated by the manufacturer. If You are planning on replacing the oil make sure to get an oil filter as well because it will need to be replaced at the same time. The cost for oil will vary depending on the brand but a quart of oil starts at $5 and can get up to $12 per quart. The filter replacement will cost approximately $8 - $20 depending on the brand and if its a cartridge or spin-on canister. Always be sure to dispose of the old oil in a dump off at Your local auto parts store if You do it Yourself. Takeng it to a service shop for the oil change will range from $40 - $80 depending on how much and what type of oil used.
