The 2008 Hyundai Sonata has either a 2.4 L 4Cylinder or a 3.3 L V6 engine that needS5W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil in all temperatures or 10W-30 in above 0 F temperatures. The capacity for the vehicle iS4.5 quarts with a filter for the 2.4 L 4Cylinder and 5.5 quarts with a filter for the 3.3 L V6 engine. The 2.4 L 4Cylinder version has a torque of 29 to 32 ft/lbs for the drain plug and the 3.3 L V6 engine has a 25 to 32 ft/lbs torque for the drain plug. Oil is important because it will help to keep the engine clean. It doesn't last forever though so it needs changed every now and then. For the Sonata You should change the oil and the filter every 7,500 miles or so.

The base engine the 2.4L inline-4 for the 2008 Hyundai Sonata requires 4.5 quarts of oil, and the optional 3.3L V6 has a capacity of 5.5 quarts. Both use 5W20 (preferred) or 5W30 (alternative).
