The 2008 Jeep Compass holdS4.5 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil. Jeep recommends that You use synthetic oil whenever You need to replace it. There are two different types of oil on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered to give You better wear protection and longer life than the standard conventional petroleum based option. This means that synthetic only needs to be changed every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend that You check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is full and free from signs of damage. You will want to make sure there is no metal in the oil.
