The 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe uses SAE 5W-30 motor oil, and holdS6.0 US quarts. It is recommended that You change Your oil every 7,500 miles or so, as regular maintenance will help keep Your car healthy. You should check Your oil levels at least once a month, which is very easy to do. If You want to check it, find the hood lever in the cabin of Your car, on the drivers side. Pull it out and pop the hood. Locate the oil dipstick on the left side of the engine and pull it out. Clean it off with a shop rag or clean, lint-free rag. Re-insert the dipstick, take it out and check the levels. If below the bottom dot, You need to add oil, and if its above the top dot, You need to remove some oil. Always be sure to check Your oil when the engine is cool, and the vehicle is on a flat surface.
