The 2009 Mercedes Benz C-Class uses SAE 5W-30 oil and it will take 8.5 quarts to completely fill. Mercedes recommends using synthetic oil whenever You need to change it. There are two types of oil on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered in a lab to give You better wear protection and longer life compared to the conventional option. This means that You will only need to change synthetic oil every 7,500 miles compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 mile service interval on conventional. I recommend that You check Your oil at least once a month. During this check You will want to make sure that it is free from debris and signs of damage.
