The 2011 Ford F-150 features several engine sizes. The 3.5 liter V6 turbo useS7.7 US quarts of 5W-20. The 3.7 l V6 is equipped with 6 US quarts of the same lubricant. The F-150's two largest engines, the 5.0 l V8 and the 6.2 l V8 both use 5W-20 as well. The 5.0 l needS7.7 quarts and the 6.2 l is equipped with 7. Oil and filter changes should be scheduled every 7,500-10,000 miles or 12 months if filling with fully synthetic lubricants, or every 3,000-5,000 miles or 6 months, if using conventional oil. The advantages of using synthetic vs conventional products include better lubrication among moving parts, a longer interval between service appointments and enhanced effectiveness under adverse weather conditions. A motor oil, like 5W-20, with a thinner viscosity, moves more easily in colder temperatures, coating engine components efficiently and providing better protection against friction and corrosion.
