The 2011 Subaru Outback has a towing capacity of up to 3,000 pounds using a standard 2 inch receiver. On that receiver You have a tongue weight of 170 pounds. This is due to the unibody construction of the outback so it does not have A-Classic frame rail that the hitch is mounted to. The payload capacity in the rear of the vehicle is 1,078 pounds which exceeds a lot of the other compact crossovers out on the market these days. This can be used with the seats folded down as well to fit larger items in. The biggest thing to keep an eye on when hauling with Your Outback are the transmission temperatures as towing can be hard on the gears.
