There are two available engine options for the 2012 Ford Mustang but they both take SAE 5W-20 oil and the 3.7 L engine has a capacity of 6 quarts while the 5.0 L engine useS8 quarts. Motorcraft is the recommended brand in the manual but any equivalent will be fine. The reason for SAE 5W-20 is because it works well in year round weather conditions and it provides the optimum fuel economy. If You go with a conventional motor oil then stick with the oil changes every 5,000 miles but You can extend that to 7,500 miles if You go with a full synthetic or synthetic blend. -
