The 2012 Hyundai Sonata useS4.8 quarts of SAE 5W-30 oil for the 2.0L four cylinder engine. Hyundai recommends that You use synthetic oil as well when You need to change it. There are two main varieties of oil, synthetic and conventional. Conventional is an older technology and is petroleum based, synthetic is newer and gives You better wear protection and longer life. This means You can go longer between oil changes. Usually conventional needs to be changed 3,500 to 5,000 miles and synthetic can be changed 7,500 miles. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is in good condition and free from debris or burning.
