The 2012 Nissan Maxima has a 3.5 L V6 engine that needS5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil. The capacity for the Maxima iS5.1 quarts with a filter. It is important to change the filter at the same time whenever You change the oil so that You don't waste time changing it later on. Since it uses synthetic oil it and the filter should be changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. The cost of a change is anywhere from $40 to $50 in labor costs. It is pretty easy to do it by Yourself though and only takes about 5 to 15 minutes. Some of the tools that are needed to change it are oil, oil filter, drain pan, gloves, ratchet, socket, socket extensions, jack and jack stands.
