The 2012 Toyota Tacoma uses SAE 0W-20 oil in the engine and needS5.5 quarts to completely fill it up after an oil change. Toyota also recommends that You use synthetic oil in Your vehicle when You need to change it. Oil comes in two major varieties, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered in a lab to give You better wear protection than the standard petroleum based conventional. This also means that synthetic oil can last longer than conventional. Usually You can go 7,500 miles between changes using synthetic, and 3,500 to 5,000 with conventional. Always be sure to check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is properly filled and free form debris or signs of burning.
