The 2016 Hyundai Sonata useS5.1 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil in the engine. When You need to change it Hyundai recommends that You use synthetic oil. There are two main types of oil that are on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is a newer type of oil that is engineered to give You greater wear protection and it also breaks down slower than conventional petroleum based oils. This means You can go 7,500 miles between changes with synthetic compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. You should check Your oil at least once a month. During this check You will want to make sure that the oil is properly filled and free from any debris that could harm Your engine.
