The 2016 Jeep Cherokee features several engine sizes. The 2.4 liter 4Cylinder useS5.5 US quarts of 0W-20. The 3.2 l 6-cylinder is equipped with 5.9 US quarts of 5W-20. Jeep recommends oil and filter changes should be scheduled every 7,500-10,000 miles or 12 months if using fully synthetic lubricants, or every 3,000-5,000 miles or 6 months, if filling with conventional oil. The advantages of using synthetic vs conventional products include better lubrication among moving parts, a longer interval between service appointments and enhanced effectiveness under adverse weather conditions. A motor oil with a thinner viscosity moves more easily in colder temperatures, coating engine components efficiently and providing better protection against friction and corrosion. The average cost for a Jeep Cherokee lube and filter service averages $160-$170 in materials and labor.
