The 2016 Jeep Wrangler has a regular towing capacity of 3500 pounds, requiring a tongue weight of 350 lbs. The torque is normal at 266 lbs. -ft.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm and a payload capacity of 1,200 pounds. The SUV has a decent engine that produces 236 HP with a 3.6-liter Pentastar v6 and has A6-speed automatic transmission that allows to load heavier loads. With a towing kit, the higher trim levels would be able to tow up to 5,000 lbs, such as the Rubicon. It could also be worth installing an aftermarket transmission cooler to maintain the transmission at optimum output and not causing any harm from overheating with the extra force required to pull the load.
