The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek oil type is 0W-20 full synthetic and the oil capacity iS5.1 US quarts. To preserve the life of Your car, You should change Your oil once every 7,500 - 10,000 miles. Check Your owners manual for the exact schedule. You should also check the oil levels once a month, even if You dont change it out. To check, all You have to do is pull the hood release button inside of Your cabin on the lower left of the drivers side dash near the floor. Walk to the hood and push the safety release toward the passenger side. Youll find the dipstick on the left side of the engine when facing it. Pull it out, clean it off with a clean rag, and reinsert. When You pull it out, make sure the oil is clean, and check the min and max lines. If below, top if off, if above, drain some. Always make sure the car is on a level surface and the engine is cool to get an accurate levels.
