The oil capacity for Your 2016 Toyota Highlander will depend on which model of engine Your vehicle is equipped with. Those with the standard 2.7L I-4 engine will have a capacity of 4.6 US quarts including the filter and the models with the upgraded 3.5L V6 engine will have a capacity of 6.4 US quarts when the filter is included. No matter which engine You have in Your vehicle You will need to use 0W-20 synthetic motor oil. If You do not have that available it is possible to use 5W-20 but You will need to switch back to 0W-20 on Your next oil change.

The 2016 Toyota Highlander uses a fully synthetic SAE 0W-20 engine oil. The oil capacity differs by engine type. The 2.7L Four-cylinder can hold 4.6 quarts with a filter, 4.2 without. The 3.6L V6 can hold 6.4 quarts with a filter and 6 quarts without.
