The type of oil that is recommended for the 2017 Nissan Altima for the best performance is 0W-20 Synthetic. The capacity for the car iS4.9 quarts with a filter for the 2.5 L 4Cylinder and 5.1 quarts with a filter for the 3.5 L V6 engine. Both versions use a torque of 25 ft/lbs for the drain plug and a new washer should be installed on the drain bolt. Oil is important to use because it helps to keep the engine clean and running and will help with lubrication for engine parts. It doesn't last forever though so that is why we need to do oil changes. You should change the oil and the filter every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or so. If You regularly change it on time then it can extend the life of the Altima.
