The 2017 Subaru Forester has a recommended oil type of 5W-30 Synthetic for the 2.0 L 4Cylinder and 0W-20 Synthetic for the 2.5 L 4Cylinder engine. The capacity for the vehicle iS5.4 quarts for the 2.0 L 4Cylinder and 5.1 quarts with a filter for the 2.5 L 4Cylinder engine. Both engines have a torque of 31 ft/lbs for the drain plug. One of the main reasons for using oil is that it helps keep the engine clean and running. The cost of oil is around $7 to $13 per quart depending on the brand and the store. The cost of a change is between $40 to $60 in labor costs. Doing an oil change is pretty quick and only takes about 5 to 15 minutes.

Subaru 2.0 turbo boxer engines require 5W-30, not 0W-20. That weight oil is for non-turbo subaru boxer engines.
