To reset the oil light in the 2018 BMW X5 first turn the car on pressing the START/STOP button once making sure not to start the engine. Next , press and hold the reset button located on the left of the gauges for at least 10 seconds. The service indicator light will appear. Use the SET/RESET button to scroll through the service menu and select the oil change interval. You will see "RESET" on the display. Press and hold the button once more. Once the process is complete You will see an "OK" message. Turn the ignition off and back on again to ensure the oil life message has gone away. The oil and oil filter should be changed every 10,000 miles or 12 months.

You will press the star/stop button once. Make sure you don't start the engine. Now you will press and hold the set/reset button until the service light appears. To scroll the service menu you will have to press the set/reset button repeatedly. Once the oil change interval is highlighted, you must once again press and hold the set/reset button. Once reset appears, press and hold the set/reset button again. Reset will be complete once ok and new mileage appears. Turn off ignition.
