The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas with the 2.0L 4Cylinder engine useS4.9 quarts of oil, and the 3.5L V6 holdS5.8 quarts. Both of these engines should use SAE 0W-20 engine oil, and VW recommends using synthetic oil when it is changed. Oil comes in two major varieties, conventional and synthetic. Conventional is the traditional petroleum based oil that has been around for decade, and synthetic is newer and engineered to give You better protection and longer life. This means You can go longer between changing it out. On average with conventional You can go 3,500 to 5,000 miles between changes and with synthetic that is extended to 7,500 miles. Always be sure to check Your oil at least once a month to make sure it is in good condition and full.
