In certain models of the 2006 Chevy Equinox, gm agreed to replace the PCM due to a faulty board. The PCM is a part of the central computer. If this system goes bad then a lot of other systems will start to go bad as they are not being monitored correctly. Since the recall is for such an old model it is unlikely that they will still be offering it, so if the PCM goes bad You will need to get a new one. That said it may be cheaper to look for a new car then try and replace this semi-expensive part on such an old model.
