Yes, there was a recall issued for certain GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado trucks purchased from 1999 to 2013. The issue with this recall is that the limited what years they would actually fix. If Your vehicle was more than 10 years old when the recall was issued then they are not going to fix the paint damage. This is going to cover the majority of owners so if You are dealing with this problem You're going to have to pay for it out of pocket. The issue with the paint on these trucks was that it was not a great quality of paint and could lead to rusting and chipping.
