There have not been any recalls related to the timing chains in the 2011 Chevy Equinox. There have been some issues where GM claims that the chains are prone to wearing out earlier than they should though. To rectify this they did extend the warranty on the chain to 10 years or 200,000 miles to compensate for it but the problem was not considered to be serious enough for a full recall. The warranty extension is definitely helpful if You do have a problem with Your chain as those can be costly repairs and Your vehicle won't be able to function properly until it's replaced. -

Due to issues with the timing chain wearing out prematurely on many 2011 chevy equinoxes, gm issued a tsb and extended the warranty on this part to over 200,000 miles and 10 years, but no recall was manifested.

Mt timing chain just went out and now I need a New Engine. I agree we need a class action lawsuit, they know this is an issue but yet don't issue a recall.
