Although the 2012 Chevy Cruze' thermostat housing has not been the subject of a recall, numerous complaints exist to the NHTSA from consumers regarding recurring coolant leaks and overheating issues. Several reports detail loss of coolant from radiator lines. Others claim engine overheating and raised thermostat readings while driving. When examined, the Cruze' coolant reservoir is often empty. The failure happens at between 60,000-75,000 miles. Owners in many forums have narrowed down the source of the Cruze' overheating and fluid leaks to a small hose connected to the throttle body. It is known to fail every three years causing an almost undetectable loss of antifreeze that over time increases and damages thermostats, water pumps and reservoirs.
