Are there any 2015 chevy equinox timing chain recalls?

Suddenly breaking timing chains while driving the vehicle have triggered a 2015 chevy equinox recall.

When was this recall ,this just happened to mine ? They said it's for up to 2013

Timing chain just broke and chevrolet need to almost help out with these expensive repairs and it should be a recall on these 2015 Equinox.

It’s time for a class action suit this is a know. Issue especially with 2015 models and GM is doing nothing. I have bought nothing but GM products for 30 years but that is about to change

My 2015 Chev Equinox timing belt just blew, along with the header and valves....driving the vehicle, all of a sudden engine losing power light on and car dies.....no recalls? Every mechanic you speak to says nothing with issues with these 2.4 engines!! 3500 later..this is messed up

Mine went out in July. Chevy did nothing to help. 5000.00 for a new motor.

We’re having the same issue now. Wife was driving from Richmond Va home in Greensboro NC this past Sunday. Traveling I-95 at 70 mph and lost power and almost got rear ended. The 2015 Chevy Equinox is a DEATH TRAP just waiting to get someone killed. It was towed to a Chevy dealer In Richmond that afternoon. They pulled the coded and suggested timing chain replacement. On Wednesday got a call from dealer and was told that they think I should just go ahead and replace the engine. What a racket! Lifetime Chevy owner, but that’s changing as soon as I get my Death trap back to NC! Class action suit against GM is needed before someone dies!!!!!!!

I am dealing with this now. My check engine light came on a week ago, and I’ve only had it 3 years! I can’t get to the dealership till Thursday. I think the guy with the class action lawsuit is right!!!!!

My 2016 timing chain just snapped. Quotes between$4000 and $7000 for repairs. Friend owns a tow truck business and he said he picked up 3 Equinox last month with the same problem suspected. Had I known this I never would have bought an Equinox.

My friend's timing belt just took out her engine yesterday. 2015 Equinox Can't find a recall anywhere.

Class action suit or recall needs to happen, but I dont know how to go about doing something like that. My 2015 equinox has been sitting in the yard for two years now. One cold night be and the timing chain blew my engine. I had just paid it off a month earlier and added a lot of cosmetic enhancements. Now I Have a beautiful very expensive lawn ornament. Pissed off seeing it sit there every day.

Mine took out my motor over a year ago. I purchased an extended warranty also and they will not fix it also. I refuse top pay for it and I am waiting for Chevy to man up and correct the problem. No one should have to pay good money for a vehicle that is only 5 years old.

I am having the same issue with my 2017. How do I get in on the lawsui?

Maybe what just happened to me. I was driving and car just stopped. How I wasn't hit is beyond me. So far I've dealt with problem of stalling out at stop signs that was a recall. Wiper motor going during a thunder storm that was a recall. Niw this. The 2015 Equinox is garbage

I have a 2015 equinox all wheel drive they’re telling me my timing chain sounds bad did anybody have a low oil warning light come on my never did and it was not low on oil and they’re saying it was low on oil it only needed a quart and a half of oil

Mine was replaced at the cost of 1700.00 and now little over year and half and it’s doing it again just started something is very wrong here we all should be giving a brand new complete motor that don’t have them over seas parts you buy cheap!!

Now I am worried as I have a 2015 Equinox too. I may have to replace the timing chain ahead of time.

Not that I know of yet. Hopefully though, mine just broke. It's at the mechanics now. Hoping the engine isn't trash!

I have a 2015 Chevy Equinox I took Car Shield out they denied my claim the adjuster told the chevy dealer it is at that it was a material failure the guide on the timing chain was broke and that it will be covered but back at the office he denied it saying because one of my oil changes stated 2 quarts low he denied the claim I knew Carshield was full of B. S. OnTV so do not trust them.

I have a 2015 Equinox. Bought it from a dealer 12/2020. My engine light comes and goes last couple months. Regular oil changes thru dealership. They told me this past December that I was gonna need a new chain soon and that my water pump has a small leak. Took it to another mechanic and codes read p0300 and p0411. They said no new chain is needed and no leak in water pump. $867 later, the p0300 code is fixed, I'm sure I screwed on that one, and for $1700+ they will fix check engine light problem. After reading these comments, I'm worried I may really need a timing chain. I forgot to mention that the $867 was cause I had misfire on all 4. Wouldn't i know something was wrong if that was the case? New plugs and coil and my car drivers just the same as it did before I brought it in. The only problem I think is a problem is the lack of umph when trying to get up to speed turning into the hway/freeway.

Our 2015, 2.4 Chevrolet Equinox LT is having the same issues as everyone else in these posts. Ed Bozarth Chevrolet #@*!ed us. We had religiously brought our car in for regular scheduled maintenance and service and NOT one word about this problem. When we towed our vehicle into their service department, we were treated like lepers and given a take it our leave it diagnosis. #ClassAction

Anyone have the same issues with 2014 chevys equinox? My timing chain just went out and completely destroyed my motor, no engine light on, nothing.

November 2023 2015 Equinox 4 cylinder eco Start my car with key. Let it run while cleaning out my car for 10 minutes or more...Runs perfectly. Shut it off. Go inside. Later , remote start to warm it back up Runs perfectly. Shuts off like normal. I get in my car, start it with key this time because it’s warmed up.. And bam. Clunking coming from engine and-does not want to stay idiling. I keep turning it over and after 2 minutes it starts up. I have to keep the gas pedal to the floor to keep it running. Running so rough and clanking from the motor. Gas pedal sticks to the floor(first time that happened ever) and then it revs up real high and starts running normally. I test it by driving to the local convenience store and back which is about a half mile to and from. Runs perfectly. I then proceed to drive to work which is 11highway miles away. Runs perfect. I proceed to park my car at work. Shut it off, and decide to test it. Turn it over once again and begins clunking and won’t idle and won’t start. I had it towed to my mechanic as where he proceeds to tell me the timing chain broke and my motor needs replaced as due to other damage because of said timing chain failure. Nothing to indicate any motor failure prior. Regular oil changes and maintenance always performed. I paid this car off in August of 2023 and nothing but expenses since.. Including new struts , new control arm ,new sensors,and now new motor? I’ve been reading all your posts on this forum. I’m pissed off. I had to buy a new car today so I can live my life. As I have been mooching rides for the past week. I say we all as a conglomerate stick together and make this company accountable.I plan on researching out a lawyer to consider taking this case! I bought a 2015 4 cylinder Equinox 5 years ago. Last payment to be made on April 1st, 2024. Just went in for an oil change and diagnostic check to see about the muffler system, in their thorough check of car, yep, timing chain needs to be replaced. Not right away but needs to be checked once in a while. With all the posts about this issue, Chevrolet needs to recheck their wrong attitude that theirs not enough problems to start a recall. Ridiculous. The car has just a little obver 72,000 miles!!!

My 2015 equinox stalled out today while sitting in traffic, no engine light came on. It started right up like there was no problem, did this 3 times. Drove it straight to our mechanic, they called Said I Need a timing chain kit. Only 73000 miles on it. Regular oil changes

I bought my 2015 Chevy Equinox LT on 8/30/2022 with 81,000 miles from a dealer. Not even 10 months my car started stalling and the rpms would not move. It will start no problem, but stall when I put it into drive. I was told it was possibly the Throttle Body. When I took into my mechanic he fiddled with it so that I can make it to work, but after that the car wouldn't budge. I picked it up later that day and they said my timing chain is about to go that there found metal pieces on the UV screen. I got an oil change n was able to drive it home. Came to the next morning. I pulled into a driveway to back out n once I put it into drive it kept on stalling n stayed stuck. I had another mechanic to come look at it n he noticed that the oil already has metal in it. So basically I'm screwed.n the dealership don't want to hear it either n that it's my problem. Which sucks cuz I've only had the car for less than 10 months n it now has 100, 824 miles

My timing chain broke on my 2015 equinox why is there no recall

Bought a 2015 Equinox 3 yrs ago. Now the timing chain is messed up, have an appointment August 1st forva repair, here I am 78 yrs old and my husband is 75 with a bad stroke.we have to have a car for Dr's appointments etc. And here we are stuck with this lemon. The dearship should be sued and the maker also.here we are on fixed income and can barely make it . The dealership.knew all.about this no doubt but when he saw us old people come in to his place he played us for a sucker

My 2015 Equinox 2.4 Lt just blew the timing chain. It's now at the auto shop, waiting on the verdict if engine is trashed or not. I've owned since new, and only the dealer has changed the oil. 143K miles.

Why are there no recalls on 2015. When I talk to other owners and dealers, everyone knows of the defect. Devalues my 2015 Equinox that only has 92k.

My 2015 Equinox timing component is doing the same thing. I was quoted a price from my local Chevy dealer of $2000+ before taxes. I spoke with another auto shop who said that I was the 5th in the past few weeks/months that he has repaired. There definitely needs to be a recall in this.

Just paid almost $2600.00 repair for Chain package on my 2015 Equinox. No warning beforehand at all my car kept dying and then started a loud knocking noise, thankful I was near the Chevrolet dealers

2014 Chevy Equinox. Bought a year ago from a dealership. Got oil changes regularly. Was driving down the highway when the timing chain snapped. My engine has to be replaced and was told its going to be roughly $5000. Unsure at this point if my warranty is going to cover it. My mechanic said they have had several Equinoxes in their with the same issue and no recall has been issued. Also...I still owe o.the car.

I have a 2015 Chevy equinox. Had it only 6 months and timing chain failed ruining my engine had to do a complete engine repair then one year later during cold weather again my timing chain failed that repair cost me over $1,500 now a year later on December 23rd another Arctic freeze hit our area my car was warmed up completely and again another timing chain failure don't know how much this one's going to cost me but in two and a half years I've had nothing but major expenses on this limit of a car and again GM refuses to do anything or acknowledge any problems

I have a 2015 Chevy Equinox and I am having to get my timing chain replaced.. I think it is ridiculous that I have only had my car for 7 years and I am having to make this expensive repair on my car already!! I always get my routine oil changes and this happens!! 😡😡😡 There need to be some sort of research done for a recall!!

I just found out my timing has jumped in my 2015 Chevy equinox with 65,000 miles was told I need a new engine $6071.67 plus labor $3400.00. Will never buy a Chevy again this is ridiculous I’m in shock

Drive chain just caused my engine to blow. 90,000 miles and only 8 years old! This should not be happening. GM needs to step up and help. 8,000 for a new one and dealer or GM won't help with any costs.

2015 equinox. Motor went at a little over 100,000 miles due to timing belt. Get a northern motor put in ($4500) new timing belt and all that. Wife drive it for a year and Motor goes again due to timing belt jumping. Takes out the hole top end. Something needs to be done!!

Still nothing on the timing chain. I guess I’m going to look into lemon laws. The last Chevy I owed I have over 400,000 miles with minimal repairs. I guess they want to make sure I buy a new vehicle every 100,000 miles.

Same thing happened to me when it snapped blew the engine! It’s honestly not worth the trouble of fixing it!
