Like most current vehicles, the 2013 Hyundai Elantra is not installed with a spare tire. You will find, instead, a "tire mobility kit" or TMK under the floorboard of the Elantra's trunk. The TMK is equipped with everything needed to repair rather than replace a flat tire. Usually this consists of a sticky sealant integrated with an air compressor or pump that is attached to a hose. The air compressor is used for re-inflating or sealing any punctures in the flat, so the car can be driven to a repair center. By omitting the spare, auto manufacturers hope to reduce the weight of vehicles, increase cargo space and improve their fuel economy and performance.
