No, Your Kia Sorento doesn't have a continuously variable transmission (CVT). As You're likely aware, thiS-TYPE of automatic tranny can seamlessly transition through gears, which renders a quicker acceleration and shifting from gear to gear. Additionally, they're thought to be more reliable and durable than Your typical traditional transmission, so it's a big bummer Kia didn't include it as a feature on its Sorento product line. You can, however, get a CVT transmission on the 2020 Kia Rio, Forte, Soul and Seltos, if You're really attached to having this technology under Your hood.

Cvt’s and reliability have nothing in common. They are a cheap to manufacture throw away solution for a driveline. They should be reliable however that is not the case due to the constant metal contamination caused by the action of the variators contaminating the solenoids and control body. Nothing is going to fix that flaw. So carry on the BS lies and false testimonies and sell this trash to anyone gullible to swallow that load. Wanna be more efficient and save energy? Go all electric or better yet hydrogen fuel cell. In the meantime, get a real six speed automatic. Anymore speeds than 6 is unnecessary and a crutch for a manufacturer trying to squeeze a minute amount of fuel economy or emissions to help their corporate average at the expense of long term reliability to the consumer.
