A bad seal in the drain plug is a common cause for oil leaking in the 2000 Ford Focus. The gasket is probably the most common cause of oil leaks. The gasket is a seal that joins the head two metal parts of the engine, such as the between the block and the head(s) as well as the engine block and the oil pan. Leaking oil can cause ugly stains on Your driveway and are an environmental hazard. And worst of all, engine oil leaks are a fire risk in Your engine compartment and can result in catastrophic engine failure at the worst possible time, not that there is a good time for catastrophic engine failure.

The 2000 ford focus has had reported oil leaks. This is often caused by a broken engine block. It could also be a problem with the gasket.
