Some of the transmission problems with Your 2000 Ford Ranger while shifting include a delayed or hard shift. These shift problems are very common with the vehicle and have been reported by a number of owners. Other problems include transmission failures and the overdrive light running on and off abruptly. You wont have any problems when shifting from the 1st gear to the 2nd but once You try to enter the 3rd gear, it will be difficult to do so to perform a perfectly smooth shift between them. But You can solve this problem through procedure mentioned below. Just replace the VSS situated at the top od the rear end and You should be all done! Now, the shifts between gears should be smooth once again.

The 2000 ford ranger vehicle has some transmission shifting problems such as lack of response, leaking fluid, low fluid, burning smell, refusing to go into gear, gears slipping, grinding or shaking, transmission getting noise when in neutral, and a dragging clutch. Hence, several problems have been observed for this vehicle in terms of the transmission shifting.
