The 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac has had transmission problems as stated by consumer reports. The 2001 ford explorer will experience transmission failure when it it refuses to shift out of first gear or the driver cannot accelerate the car to highway speeds. You may have to replace the transmission but check for pressure and transmission fluid leaks first.
