The 2001 Ford F-150 has numerous reports for ignition switch failures. This is fairly common for this particular make and model. Symptoms that tell You the switch may have gone bad include failure of the engine to crank, the key refusing to turn in the ignition, and stalling while trying to drive. You also may experience flickering from the lights on the dashboard. If the switch is bad, You will need to replace it. This can cost between $30 and $80 for parts alone. If You pay a mechanic or auto tech to perform the change, You can expect to pay an additional $60 to $250 for labor.

Issues reported with the ignition switch are that all electrical switches on when the ignition shift come on when the switch is used, but the starter will not work.
