The 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE has a 1.8 L 4Cylinder engine that is equipped with a timing chain instead of a timing belt. Many people prefer the timing chain as it's strong and built to last and You usually won't have to worry about it wearing down and needing a replacement, at least not any time soon. The downside to the chain is that it's more expensive to produce and if You do run into a problem with it, it's likely going to be a costly replacement. Try to keep Your oil pressure from getting too low so Your chain can stay nice and lubricated and reducing the odds of friction that can cause it to break over time. -
