The 2004 Lexus ES300 does have a timing belt as specified by the manufacturer. This part has been identified by Lexus as the Camshaft drive belt and it is recommended that the belt maintenance schedule be tested every 30,000 miles and that the part be replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Prices can range from $400 - $500 for a timing belt repair from a mechanic. You will instinctively know if the timing belt fails and You will hear a loud snap noise and cling because of the loose part of the engine. The vehicle will not be driven and if You need to get the car towed to an auto repair shop, it would not be necessary. Some indicators to watch out for are rough idling or engine mIS Firing, oil leakage at the front of the engine and the control engine light will illuminate if You believe Your timing belt is going poor.

The 2004 ES330 engine has a timing belt that is recommended to be replaced every 10 years or 80,000 miles whichever comes first. Regular inspection of the timing belt is necessary and replace it if you see any crack or missing teeth. If the timing belt breaks when driving, intake and exhaust valves will be bent by the piston and it will not be an easy fix.
