The 2007 Dodge Caliber comes equipped with a timing chain instead of a timing belt. The timing chain and the timing belt have basically the same function and the only difference is the location and what they are made from. The timing belt is located on the outside of the engine and the chain is on the inside of the engine. Since the belt is outside of the engine, it is exposed to things and wears down over time. With the chain being on the inside of the engine it isn't as exposed to things so it is meant to last for the life of the vehicle. Though You should inspect the chain by looking at the tension every 150,000 miles or so.
