The 2007 Toyota Sienna is equipped with a timing chain. A belt needs to be replaced routinely, but a chain is designed to last the life of the vehicle. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. This part is made up of links that synC-HRonize the camshaft and crankshaft. It is located in the engine and controls the valves that open and close when each cylinder fires. If the part breaks, expensive damage can be resulted. If You hear rattling noise in the engine compartment, there's a chance pieces of the chain have been broken off by friction and fell in the oil drain pan. This sound should not be ignored. Also, if You change Your own oil, keep a look out for metal shavings in the oil. The average cost to replace the timing chain in a 2007 Sienna is $2,090 to $2,570, including labor.
