The 2009 Ford Ranger transmission problems that can occur are hard shifting from 1st - 2nd gear, shuddering when accelerating, and Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid failure that can lead to erratic shifting. These issues were a major problem with the 2001 model year but they have seemed to fixed the issue according to consumers. To keep the transmission performing and running efficiently it is recommended to flush the transmission fluid every 60,000 miles. If You have any issues regarding the transmission such as slipping, shuddering, or jerking when accelerating make sure to take it in to a service shop as soon as possible to avoid any major damage to the transmission.
