A 2009 GMC Acadia engine uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt. If You're lucky You will not need to have Your timing chain replaced during the course of ownership but it's always a possibility. There are some things You can check for to see if Your timing chain is failing. You will likely see a check engine light so in addition to that You may notice engine mIS Fires, bits of metal in Your oil, or difficulty starting the engine. If You have these problems You should look into having it replaced quickly because a broken timing chain can quickly cause damage to other parts of engine. -
