A poor power steering pump, broken power steering hose, and a faulty torque sensor are some of the 2010 Ford Escape power steering issues that have been reported by consumers. There have been reports of completely loosing power steering which can be a danger and Ford has been aware of this issue. In the engine compartment, You can find out the power steering pump on the right side of the engine and there will be a reservoir. Some of the symptoms or issues with power steering are steering unresponsive, difficulty turning when attempting to turn the wheel, loose steering wheel, even when starting, sounds such as squealing or whining. The price will vary for replacement depending on the issue but will range from $100 - $250 on average.

There was a large recall on ford escapes around 2010 because of power steering problems. A faulty torque sensor in the steering column is the cause of the problem.
