The 2010 Nissan Sentra comes standard with a timing chain on the engine. This is a better option than a timing belt because it will not need to be replaced. Usually a timing belt will need to be replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles whereas a chain should be able to last over 300,000 miles with no real problems. I still recommend that You check Your timing chain at least once a year to make sure that there is not any damage to it. You will also want to make sure that it is not loose from the timing gears. Even though You won't need to change the chain I recommend replacing the water pump at least every 100,000 miles to keep Your engine cooling at maximum capacity.

The 2010 Nissan Sentra uses a timing chain. Normally, these parts are more durable than a timing belt and require less maintenance.
