The 2011 Nissan Quest comes equipped with a timing chain rather than a timing belt. The Quest used to use a timing belt from the years of 1992 througH2002 but then it changed to the timing chain in the year 2003. One of the reasons why it might have changed to the chain is because the belts require more maintenance and need to be changed whereas the chain is meant to last for the life of the vehicle. Timing belts tend to have to be changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or so and the chain should only be inspected every 150,000 miles. The reason to inspect the chain is because it is not unheard of for it to break down over time.
