The 2013 Dodge Avenger has either a 2.4 L 4Cylinder or a 3.6 L V6 engine and they both use timing chains rather than timing belts. The chain usually doesn't need to be replaced unlike the belt, it is only changed in rare cases like if it becomes loose or somehow becomes too worn. The timing belt gets changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles but if the chain needs to be replaced it is pretty unpredictable so there is no set time for it. If for some reason the chain does need to be replaced then the cost of a new one is anywhere from $70 to $150 depending on the store that You buy it from.
