The 2013 Kia Rio has a timing chain, which means generally You won't need to do much in the way of maintenance on it, as these tend to last at least 100,000 miles. That said, if it does break, the average cost for the timing chain tensioner and related parts is around $500, which includes labor. You'll be thrilled to know, though, that this particular Rio is the target of a Kia technical bulletin: Service Action number SA134. This involves a defective timing chain and guide, which could create a clattering sound as it chews up the inside of an engine. Fun! If You're hearing this, get to Your dealer as soon as You can and mention that service action number to have them replace it on Kia's dime.

Your 2013 kia rio should be equipped with a timing chain whose maintenance is key to engine performance.

Oliver, I'm not the car master blaster or anything; But if a car's timing belt breaks, it pretty well destroys the engine beyond being worth the price of repair; So how would a timing chain breaking be any different?¿
