Whether Your 2013 Toyota Highlander has A4Cylinder engine or the V6 engine it will have a timing chain and not a belt. The timing chain plays an important part in Your engine as it keeps the timing synC-HRonized between the crankshaft and camshafts and keeps the engine valves opening at the correct intervals. While timing chains have the potential to last for many years they will eventually fail if You keep Your vehicle long enough. This shouldn't happen until the 100,000 mile mark or so if You take care of Your vehicle. You should use a good synthetic oil and change it at the proper intervals in order to keep the chain lubricated and working well. -
